Does LightSpeedBid report the sale to the DMV?

LightSpeedBid does not directly report the sale to your DMV. Instead, LightSpeedBid ensures that all paperwork is completed properly so the buyer can file the title transfer with the state. The buyer is responsible for submitting the signed title and transfer documents to the DMV, and they do this immediately after pickup. Because LightSpeedBid works only with licensed and verified buyers, the transfer is completed reliably and without delay.

Sellers must still complete any required state notifications. Some states require the seller to file a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability. Others require the seller to return license plates or cancel registration before the transfer is officially recognized. LightSpeedBid provides state specific instructions so you know exactly which actions apply to you. Some states have an online portal that lets you report the sale in less than two minutes.

Once the buyer submits the title transfer, the DMV updates its records and removes the vehicle from your name. LightSpeedBid ensures that buyers file promptly and correctly so the seller is fully protected. This structure provides both privacy and efficiency. The buyer handles official filing, while you receive documentation confirming you no longer own the vehicle.
